AFL Club Adelaide To Name Temporary Replacement For Deceased Coach

Australian Football League side Adelaide will on Monday announce a "temporary replacement" for slain coach Phil Walsh, according to Greg Denham of THE AUSTRALIAN. Crows Chair Rob Chapman said on Saturday that the club "would probably make the announcement" on Sunday, but it appears to have "deferred it until all players are notified." Assistant Scott Camporeale "heads a short list, which also includes assistant coaches Darren Milburn and David Teague." About 20,000 people converged on a somber Adelaide Oval on Sunday afternoon "in tribute to Walsh." The Crows "were to have played Geelong," but the game was abandoned because of the killing. Players "wore black armbands in all weekend games and there was a minute's silence for Walsh at all matches." The team "committed to return to AFL action next Saturday against West Coast." Walsh was "stabbed to death by his 26-year-old son early on Friday" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 7/6).
