League Notes: Racing New South Wales To Proceed With Licensing Of Veterinarians

In a bid to maintain integrity, Racing New South Wales "will proceed with the licensing of veterinarians." The vets involved in the Sam Kavanagh cobalt case "have either refused to give evidence or provided false information, and Racing NSW stewards have been able to do little as none of them are licensed and governed by industry rules" (Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH, 7/1). ... The Queensland Crime & Corruption Commission "poured cold water on speculation more athletes will be charged in relation to illicit drug use." The CCC said that "there is not enough evidence to warrant further athlete charges." The CCC said that "its focus remained on a wider investigation." It said in a statement, "As the CCC has repeatedly stated, its investigation is focused on the syndicate and not on illicit drug use in sport" (THE AGE, 7/1).
