Atlético Madrid Names Online Trading Service Plus500 Its New Shirt Sponsor

Atlético Madrid on Wednesday presented its new shirt for next season through social media, according to Chema G. Fuente of MUNDO DEPORTIVO. The club did so with its new principal partner, Plus500. The online trading service, founded in '08, replaces Azerbaijan on the front of the team's shirt for the next two seasons. The sponsorship began during the first leg of the round of 16 match against Real Madrid during this year's Copa del Rey, with Plus500's logo featured on the back of the club's shirt (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 6/23).

HISTORIC DAY: In Madrid, David G. Medina wrote Tuesday was a "historic day" for Atlético, which held its first ever board meeting in a location outside Spain. The meeting took place in China, home of new club shareholder Wang Jianlin, with Zhang Lin officially joining the board as a director. Lin, representing the Wanda Group, is Atlético's "latest big signing for this year." He will "add money to the club coffers." The club is "once again" looking at managing the highest budget in its history, although it has "not yet" been finalized (MARCA, 6/24).
