Football Notes: Petr Cech's $17M Move Makes Him One Of Highest-Paid Players Over 30

Petr Cech's £11M ($17.3M) move to Arsenal has made him "one of the 10 most expensive players over the age of 30." The former Chelsea goalkeeper, 33, leaves Stamford Bridge after "11 years of service." Despite what is considered "some shrewd business" from Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger, Cech is now "one of the most valuable veterans to play the game" (London DAILY MAIL, 6/23). ... Atlético Madrid announced on Monday that it will play J. League club Sagan Tosu in a summer friendly in Japan as part of its Asian tour. The game will be held Aug. 1 at Best Amenity Stadium in Tosu, Saga Prefecture (KYODO, 6/23).
