Spanish Federation Spurned $7.5M Commercial Rights Offer For Women's Football

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) ignored a €6.6M ($7.5M) commercial rights offer for women's football in Spain, according to Isabel Roldán of AS. This information was brought to light in a communique from Seyer Gestión, a Madrid-based marketing consultancy agency that was "contracted specifically" by the RFEF to promote women's football domestically. Seyer Gestión is now demanding a compensation fee from the federation of up to €2M ($2.3M) after its lawsuit was launched through a Madrid-based court. Seyer Gestión confirmed that a €6.6M offer was tabled by CGP Sport for a six-year period. Its proposal was to broadcast one live game from the Spanish Women's football league and "offer a platform where all games could be streamed live" (AS, 6/22).
