The Int'l Boxing Association (AIBA) announced the dismissal of HO KIM from his position as exec director with immediate effect. AIBA President CHING-KUO WU has immediately appointed the current Deputy Exec Dir KARIM BOUZIDI to the position of exec director (AIBA). ... National Rugby League side Melbourne Storm appointed DAVE DONAGHY as CEO. Donaghy, a former Herald Sun sports journalist, "will take over from the departing" MARK EVANS, who will finish up and return to the U.K. at the end of the month. At just 32, the new Storm boss, promoted from his current position of strategy and communications director, "will become the youngest club chief executive in NRL" (HERALD SUN, 6/18). ... ESPN named The Weather Company GM/AdFX & Analytics VIKRAM SOMAYA to the newly created role of senior VP & global data officer. He will be responsible for leading ESPN's data strategy, as well as working closely with Disney Media Networks to identify new revenue models and drive key sales strategies. He will be based in N.Y. and report to ESPN President of Global Sales & Marketing ED ERHARDT. Prior to The Weather Company, Somaya was Thomson Reuters VP of global operations & audience (ESPN). ... Centerplate promoted Regional Operations Manager SIMON PILE to director of new business partnerships for Europe (Centerplate). ... England Hockey announced the appointment of ROYSTON HOGGARTH as the new chair of the board. The appointment is effective Oct. 1. Hoggarth has experience across a range of organizations in the commercial, financial services, telecom and technology sectors and venture capital. Hoggarth replaces PHILIP KIMBERLEY after 12.5 years (England Hockey). ... Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala said on Thursday that former Russia coach YURI SEMIN has "signed a one-year deal to take charge" of the club. He replaces SERGEI TASHUEV, whose contract "ran out after he led the team to promotion last season." Semin has also previously coached Lokomotiv Moscow, Dynamo Kiev and Mordoviya Saransk (REUTERS, 6/18).
