NBA Phoenix Suns Owner Sarver Behind Offer To Acquire La Liga Side Levante

La Liga side Levante "has on the table a proposal to sell the club," according to Víctor López of AS. On Monday, the club's majority shareholder, Fundación Cent Anys del Levante UD, which owns 70% of the shares, decided that there will be a meeting on June 23 to "decide whether to go forward and begin negotiations with the interested party or turn down the option." NBA Phoenix Suns Owner Robert Sarver is reportedly behind the offer of around €55M ($62M). Levante execs, led by club President Quico Catalán, "have a willingness for the operation to go forward, but first it has to pass through the filter of the Foundation, of which many of the members are club advisers." The first offer, "however, is reportedly insufficient to buy a majority stake." The idea of Catalán is to sell just 49% of the shares "to not give up total control." The club would "like a situation" like Wanda Group's investment in Atlético Madrid (AS, 6/16).
