Rio De Janeiro State Launches Sporting Federation Council To Regulate Funds

In a meeting on Wednesday, Marco Antônio Cabral and Marcos Braz, Rio de Janeiro's state and municipal secretaries of sport, leisure & youth, signed an agreement to launch the state's new Sporting Federation Council, which will "promote talks between the public and sporting trainers," according to GLOBO ESPORTE. After discussing the main demands and problems that "challenge the work of federations," those at the meeting "reached a model in which a sporting council is capable of serving as a facilitator both in capturing public resources and relieving costs." Braz said that the public "power reaches a historic demand" in Rio de Janeiro sports. He added that it was "fundamental that every contributor execute their role as of now." Braz: "It's a historic point, yes, but we should strive to have everyone do their part. We need to structure ourselves from here on out so we don't repeat past mistakes." The council will be responsible for "distributing a financial injection from the state" (GLOBO ESPORTE, 6/10).
