The presidents of the 20 Brasileiro Série A sides will meet at the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) on Monday to "discuss the organization of championships that run the risk of leaving the hands of the CBF," according to Raphael Ramos of ESTADÃO. Club presidents' intentions for the governing body are that it "only takes care of the Brazilian national team and leaves national competitions in a league driven by the clubs." Figueirense President Wilfredo Brillinger said, "We've been discussing the possibility of this league for a long time, but now it has taken shape. We're going to talk because we need to reformulate Brazilian football immediately. It can't continue the way it is now. We need to change and one of the ways is the creation of a league." Brillinger wants to "take advantage of the weakened moment" in Brazilian football to "debate the positioning of clubs in relation to the CBF." He added, "I've always defended the creation of a league. I think it would be an opportune moment to have a discussion about this now" (ESTADÃO, 6/6).
