CBF President Del Nero Returns From Zurich Early To Handle CBF 'Crisis'

Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) President Marco Polo Del Nero left the FIFA Congress a day early to "return to Brazil" and handle the "crisis" at the CBF, according to MAQUINA DO ESPORTE. Del Nero's return "is directly linked" to the arrest of former President José Maria Marin. The CBF said that, after Marin's arrest, it would follow FIFA's "determination, and distance him 'from its right-hand side until the conclusion'" of his legal process (MAQUINA DO ESPORTE, 5/29). MAQUINA DO ESPORTE's Adalberto Leister Filho reported Del Nero confirmed that he "does not have a reason to resign" and that the CBF sent all contract documents that could place the federation in legal trouble "to be analyzed" by the Brazilian judicial system. Del Nero: "I'm not going to resign because I don't have anything to do with this." He added, "We turned in all pertinent documents to the federal public ministry of Rio de Janeiro and the justice minister" (MAQUINA DO ESPORTE, 5/29).
