Event Notes: Madre De Deus To Host Third Leg Of Handball Copa Bahia

The Bahia Handball Federation (FBHb) announced that the Brazilian city of Madre de Deus will host the third leg of the Copa Bahia. The "third and last round of the tournament" this year will occur on Sept. 12-13 (BAHIA NOTÍCIAS, 5/25). ... V8 Supercars will use soft tires "to increase the action during the short Saturday races during the remaining SuperSprint events of the 2015 championship, starting with the Darwin round next month." Every team will get an extra set of brand new soft-compound Dunlop tires for use in the second 60km race on the Saturday of the SKYCITY Triple Crown Darwin (FOX SPORTS, 5/26). ... The FA of Singapore announced that the Lions "will be playing friendly matches against Bangladesh and Brunei in preparation for the World Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers next month." The national team, ranked 162nd by FIFA, will meet Bangladesh (world ranking 169) at the Banghabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday, while the friendly against the 182nd-ranked Brunei will be played on June 6 in Singapore at a venue "yet to be announced" (STRAITS TIMES, 5/26). ... The BCA Indonesia Open "will return this year with plenty of prize money as the main sponsor has vowed to show its commitment to the development of badminton." The Superseries Premier event, slated to take place June 2-7 at the Bung Karno Indoor Sporting Arena in Jakarta, offers a total of $800,000 in prize money, which is an increase of $50,000 from the previous iteration. The event’s main sponsor, Bank Central Asia, "will provide the prize money" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 5/25).
