SABURO KAWABUCHI was elected as the new president of the Japan Basketball Association. Kawabuchi is the chairman of the Japan 2024 Task Force, which is working to "solve the problems that led to the suspension of the country's national basketball federation" in late '14. Former Olympians KIYOKO ONO and YUKO MITSUYA were appointed as the JBA's new VPs, while J.League Managing Dir MASAAKI OKAWA has taken on the roles of managing director and secretary general (FIBA).
 
COACHES/MANAGERS: FELIPÃO is "no longer the coach" of Brasileiro side Grêmio. According to club President ROMILDO BOLZAN, Felipão "resigned" (FOLHA DE SÃO PAULO, 5/19). ...  Liga MX side Puebla announced that coach JOSÉ GUADALUPE CRUZ is leaving the club. It was also announced that club President JESÚS LÓPEZ CHARGOY was replaced by CARLOS ABRAHAM LÓPEZ (LA AFICIÓN, 5/18). ... Liga MX side Atlas coach TOMÁS BOY's tenure with the club "has ended." Boy's contract with the club had just expired (LA AFICIÓN, 5/18). ... Liga MX side América and coach GUSTAVO MATOSAS "were reportedly unable to reach an agreement," and the club was expected to announce his departure at a press conference at 4:15pm local time on Tuesday (LA AFICIÓN, 5/19). ... Chilean first division side Colo Colo named JOSÉ LUIS SIERRA its new coach. He will manage the team for the next two seasons. Sierra previously coached Chilean first division club Unión Española (Colo Colo). ... League One side Crawley Town appointed former Cheltenham Manager MARK YATES as its new manager on a two-year deal. Crawley had been without a manager since JOHN GREGORY left the club on May 9 (BBC, 5/19). ... EPL side Queens Park Rangers appointed CHRIS RAMSEY as head coach on a three-year contract. Ramsey was given the job "until the end of the season in February" after HARRY REDKNAPP resigned (BBC, 5/19).
