Pakistan Cricket Board Chair Says BCCI Has Problems With Ten Sports As Broadcasters

Pakistan Cricket Board Chair Shaharyar Khan said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India top brass "voiced their reservations" about Ten Sports being the official broadcasters if the first of the proposed series happens in the UAE, according to the PTI. Ten Sports, which is backed by Essel Group Owner Subhas Chandra, "has had run-ins" with the BCCI after it started the now defunct rebel Indian Cricket League and is again planning to "walk the same route." The BCCI does not want "any kind of working relationship where Essel group is involved." Shaharyar said, "BCCI [top officials] says that it's a problem since Ten Sports has broadcasting rights. They said that Ten Sports wants to start a rebel league against IPL [Indian Premier League]. Now I am made to understand that if you are against IPL, then you are against ICC [Int'l Cricket Council] also. So Ten Sports is the problem" (PTI, 5/14).
