Event Notes: Barcelona-Costa Brava Presents Bid To Host 2022 Ryder Cup

The candidacy of Barcelona-Costa Brava to host the 2022 Ryder Cup at the PGA Catalunya Resort is "now official." Spanish Golf Federation President Gonzaga Escauriaza traveled to Wentworth to turn in the bid. The bid contains support "from all institutions that would be involved in the organization of the event" (SPORT, 4/30). ... São Conrado beach "was vetoed from the Brazilian round" of the 2015 Surfing World Cup because of the "high index of water pollution." The beach "was the last option for organizers." The alternative for the event, which will be held May 11-22, will be Barra de Tijuca beach (FOLHA DE SÃO PAULO, 4/29).
