Former Yachting Australia CEO PHIL JONES, who had been the acting CEO of Athletics Australia since December, "was officially appointed to the position on Tuesday" (HERALD SUN, 4/28). ... Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen has appointed JOCHEN ROTTHAUS "as its head of marketing communications." The 49-year-old, who currently is the managing director of German Hockey League (DEL) side Dusseldorf EG, "will take over the newly created position on July 1" (RP ONLINE, 4/28). ... Fomer Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) Managing Dir JAN POMMER, who recently stepped down, "will become the co-managing director of German Sport Marketing (DSM)." Pommer "will start his new position on Sept. 1" (SID, 4/28). ... Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) Secretary-General ANTON SUBOWO was elected president of the Badminton Asia Confederation for a four-year term. Anton was elected after two other candidates, KHUNYING PATAMA LEESWADTRAKUL of Thailand and AKHILESH DAS GUPTA of India, "withdrew from the race and settled" for two of the six VP posts. Anton will replace Malaysia’s MOHD NADZMI BIN MOHD SALLEH (JAKARTA POST, 4/27). ... The Jockey Club will lose Exec Dir of Racing BILL NADER and gain British exec TONY KELLY "as the club reorganises its racing division." On Aug. 1, the Jockey Club's racing division "will be separated into a business operations section, headed by Kelly -- currently managing director of Britain's largest racecourse operator, Arena" -- and Racing Authority, under current Dir of Racing Development ANDREW HARDING. Club CEO WINFRIED ENGELBRECHT-BRESGES said that "the changes were a follow-on from the club's investment" of HK$6.4B ($825M) into its racecourse master plan and the HK$3B ($387M) investment into a new training center at Conghua near Guangzhou (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 4/28).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Argentine first division side Crucero del Norte named SEBASTIÁN RAMBERT its new coach on Tuesday. Rambert, who played for River Plate and Boca Juniors, replaces GABRIEL SCHURRER (LOS ANDES, 4/28). ... Conference Premier side Wrexham appointed Gateshead boss GARY MILLS as its new manager "on a one year rolling contract." Mills, 53, succeeds KEVIN WILKIN, "who was sacked" in March (BBC, 4/28). ... Women's Super League One club Bristol Academy appointed former Hibernian Ladies Manager WILLIE KIRK as its new head coach. Kirk, who takes over from DAVE EDMONDSON, "has worked as women's high performance manager at the Scottish Football Association since July 2014" (BBC, 4/28). ... LUBOSLAV PENEV was appointed coach by "cash-strapped" Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia for a second spell on Tuesday. Penev, one of the Balkan country's "football icons," replaces GALIN IVANOV "as he becomes the club's third coach this season" (REUTERS, 4/28).
