São Paulo Governor GERALDO ALCKMIN, Brasileiro side Palmeiras President PAULO NOBRE and Santos President MODESTO ROMA, JR. met Friday to "restrengthen" the anti-racism campaign promoted by the São Paulo State Football Federation (FPF) and the São Paulo state government. Both clubs "will enter the field" for both finals of the Campeonato Paulista "wearing jerseys with the hashtag #SPCONTRAORACISMO" (SP against racism) (ESTADÃO, 4/24). ... Int'l Tennis Federation Exec VP JOAN MARGETS will present his candidacy for the presidency of the ITF. Margets has worked for the body since '98. The current president, Italian FRANCESCO RICCI BITTI, was first elected in '99 and was reelected in '11. Ricci Bitti will not run for reelection, which will take place on Sept. 25 (AS, 4/25). ... A Chinese investor is reportedly "interested in buying 50% of JORGE MENDES' Gestifute agency," which represents CRISTIANO RONALDO, PEPE and JAMES RODRÍGUEZ of Real Madrid and Chelsea Manager JOSÉ MOURINHO, among others (SUPERDEPORTE, 4/25). ... Former India cricket captain SOURAV GANGULY has decided to give away his Board of Control for Cricket in India pension for this year to the deceased U19 Bengal cricketer ANKIT KESHRI's family. Ganguly has also "decided to use the pension, which he will be getting in future years from the Board, to fund the treatment of injured players" who are registered under the Cricket Association of Bengal (PTI, 4/25). ... Eighteen-times grand slam singles champion MARTINA NAVRATILOVA has "quit as a part-time consultant" to world No. 9 AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA after just five months in the role. The Pole hired Navratilova in December with the "aim of reaching the latter stages of more big tournaments" but the American said that she had been "unable to dedicate enough time to the job." The 58-year-old said, "I think I underestimated the time it would take to make this a good and proper situation for both Agnieszka and me" (REUTERS, 4/24). ... Former cricketers SACHIN TENDULKAR, SOURAV GANGULY and RAHUL DRAVID “will be part of the Committee which will find Indian cricket team's new coach and the support staff.” The trio will reportedly provide input to BCCI President JAGMOHAN DALMIYA and Secretary General ANURAG THAKUR, who were on Sunday “entrusted with the job of finding the new coach at the Working Committee meeting of the Board” (PTI, 4/26). ... South Australian police are “investigating an altercation” between Australian Football League side Hawthorn coach ALASTAIR CLARKSON and a Port Adelaide fan outside the team hotel as Clarkson said that he “didn’t think it was too much of an incident.” The AFL is “still in the process of gathering all the information and is not yet in a position to determine whether any further action may be taken or not.” Clarkson shoved a man “who was harassing him in the aftermath of the defeat as he walked back to the team hotel, about 10 minutes’ walk from the Adelaide Oval” (THE AGE, 4/26).
