CBF Announces New Medical Ranking System, Football Injuries Database

The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) announced Friday its new "ranking system of medical professionals" for injured players to seek medical attention "exclusively from professionals with abilities proven by the entity," according to Igor Siqueira of LANCENET. The CBF also discussed "the contribution of that information to a software" program to be used as an injury database in Série A as of this year. Brazilian National Commission of Football Doctors (CNMF) President Jorge Pagura said, "Brazil doesn't have statistics. It's hard to plan with the lack of information. This will be important for the betterment of Brazilian football. We'll see if the players become more injured in Série A or in Série B. ... The system is encrypted. Those who will have access [to the data] will be the president of the club, the doctor and the athlete. ... The more information we have, the better." Pagura added that the software project will be completed "in the next four years" (LANCENET, 4/24).
