Finance Notes: Football Association Of Wales Increases Turnover But Posts Loss

The FA of Wales made a loss in the last financial year, "despite increasing its annual income by 10%" thanks to a new TV deal. Accounts for the year ending June '14 show turnover increased from £7.9M to £8.7M. But the association "reported a loss" after tax of £28,935 compared to a profit of £35,819 in '13 (BBC, 4/23). ... William Hill "weathered a storm" of unfavorable sports results in the first quarter of the year but Britain's largest bookmaker said on Thursday that it had been hit by £20M ($30M) of new taxes. The company said in a trading statement that its "first-quarter profits before tax and interest, and excluding one-off costs," were down by 19% year-on-year (FINANCIAL TIMES, 4/23).
