Football Federation Australia To Hit Perth Glory With Third Show Cause Notice

A-League side Perth Glory "could face fresh sanctions for breaching the A-League salary cap" after Football Federation Australia vowed to hit the club with a "third show-cause notice for allegedly failing to disclose" another A$100,000 ($76,700) in this year's payment reports, according to Dominic Bossi of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. The club is now facing the possibility of "having sanctions imposed affecting next season as well the current season in which they have already been excluded" from the A-League finals series and fined A$269,000 ($206,400) for breaching the salary cap for the past three consecutive seasons. FFA issued a statement on Wednesday confirming its intention "to slap Perth Glory with a third notice of more alleged salary cap breaches," which the club will receive no later than Friday. The statement was issued as lawyers of FFA and Perth Glory were entering a meeting in Sydney for the club's application that the FFA board "had no power to impose sanctions on the Club for breaches of the salary cap" (SMH, 4/15).
