Hamburg SV Unveils Dutch Businessman Helmut Bohnhorst As Club's Third Investor

Bundesliga side Hamburg SV announced Dutch businessman Helmut Bohnhorst has acquired €4M ($4.3M) in shares in HSV Fußball AG, according to the HAMBURGER ABENDBLATT. The contract "was signed on March 20 and increases the financial scope of the club." Bohnhorst, who is a longtime fan of the club, explained his investment by saying, "I want to set an example." He described the club's current on-field crisis as "painful." But Hamburg's relegation threat "has confirmed his intentions rather than discourage them." Bohnhorst first revealed his interest to become financially involved in the club in August. Bohnhorst: "I want to support the club, furthermore to be part of the new structure that our HSV certainly needs." Bohnhorst has become Hamburg's third investor after Klaus-Michael Kühne and Alexander Otto (HAMBURGER ABENDBLATT, 4/14).
