The Brazilian Handball Federation (CBHb) will "actualize" the 2015 Men's Junior World Handball Championship between July and August thanks to R$8M ($2.6M) that will be "paid for by the municipal, state and federal governments," according to Bianca Daga of ESPN. Before, the "budget for the tournament was more expensive" and was to be held in Rio Grande do Sul state. Currently, the competition will be in Uberaba and Uberlândia, in Minas Gerais state, "with a shorter agenda to lessen costs to the cities and the state." The Brazilian Sports Ministry "will assist" with R$5M ($1.6M) of the costs. CBHb President Manoel Luiz Oliveira said, "The IHF (Int'l Handball Federation) already approved the cities of Uberaba and Uberlândia ... . It will be R$3 million ($962,400) for the municipal and state governments. The CBHb will not spend anything. The Sports Ministry will assist with R$5 million. The R$8 million will be sufficient to guarantee the actualization of the world championship with its new configuration." To reduce costs, the IHF "presented a new proposal" for the tournament. The 16 teams that will compete in the competition will "stay only 11 days" in Brazil, as opposed to 17 days, as it used to be, and since the tournament will be "in two cities -- not four anymore -- the costs of construction and logistics will be less" (ESPN, 4/7).
