League Notes: Brasileiro Clubs In Paraná In Talks To Form Separate League

In response to Paranaense Football Federation (FPF) President Hélio Cury's reelection, the three biggest Brasileiro clubs from Paraná state as well as other regional associations have "decided to unite to form an independent league" from the FPF and "organize their own state championship." Atlético Paranaense President Mario Cesar Petraglia said, "The big three from the state, Paraná, Coritiba and Atlético Paranaense, are leading talks to form the league." Petraglia added that 20 clubs from Paraná state "are in talks and will make a decision in the next few days" (BAHIA NOTÍCIAS, 4/3). ... In protest of the Rio de Janeiro State Football Federation's (FERJ) recent suspension of Brasileiro side Flamengo Manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo, club President Eduardo Bandeira de Mello and Football VP Alexandre Wrobel watched Sunday's match against Fluminense while "wearing shirts that said 'Censorship never again. I want Rio de Janeiro football stronger and more victorious'" (LANCENET, 4/5).
