More Than 12 Million Viewers Tune In To Watch Euro 2016 Qualifier On RTL

German free-to-air TV channel RTL "recorded a new high for its broadcast of the Euro 2016 qualification game between Germany and Georgia," according to Manuel Weis of QUOTENMETER. A total of 10.52 million viewers tuned in to watch the game's first half, which started at 6pm. The number translated into a market share of 39%. In the target demographic 14-49, the game obtained a 36.6% share. The viewership number increased to 12.6 million during the second half, which kicked off shortly after 7pm. Germany's 2-0 win had a market share of 38.5% along with 38.9% in the target demo in the second half. RTL's post-game analysis was watched by 4.18 million viewers and had a 14.2% share (QUOTENMETER, 3/30).

FORMULA ONE: QUOTENMETER's Timo Nöthling reported RTL's coverage of the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix attracted more than 4 million viewers. The race, which started at 9am, recorded a total of 4.31 million viewers. The number translated into a market share of 38.8%. In the target demographic, the race obtained a 35.7% market share. German pay-TV channel Sky, which also aired the race, obtained a market share of 3.7% as 410,000 viewers tuned in. In the target demo, the race, which was won by Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel, had a 4.3% share (QUOTENMETER, 3/30).

MOTO GP: DWDL's Alexander Krei reported pan-European sports network Eurosport "drew 400,000 viewers for its coverage of the season opening MotoGP from Qatar." In the target demographic, the race had a 1.1% share starting at 7:53pm. German free-to-air TV channel DMAX, which also showed the race, attracted an additional 130,000 viewers. The race, which was won by Valentino Rossi, drew a 0.7% share on DMAX (DWDL, 3/30).
