Sky Deutschland Confident About Potential Battle For Bundesliga Broadcast Rights

German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland "is confident about a potential battle for the Bundesliga broadcast rights in '16," according to the SID. Sky CEO Jeremy Darroch: "We have an appetite for investments." The Bundesliga's longtime partner currently "does not have to fear competition and is therefore confident about the biding process," which will start in April '16. Darroch: "We will try our best and hopefully get them again." After paying a record amount for the Premier League rights, people "are expecting the Bundesliga rights will also set a new record." It could be the first time that the league's complete rights package brings in more than €1B ($1.1B) per season. Sky currently pays an average of €485.7M ($529M) per season (SID, 3/29).
