Bulgarian Side Lokomotiv Plovdiv Players Boycott Training, Protest Against Unpaid Wages

Players at Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Plovdiv "boycotted training for a second day in protest against wages," according to Alexander Krassimirov of INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL. The club "recently changed ownership" from businessman Konstantin Dinev to its supporters' association, Future for Lokomotiv. The players "failed to take part in either of the two scheduled sessions" on Wednesday and there was a meeting Thursday between players and the management. The "dire" financial state of the club was discussed, but the two sides "failed to reach an understanding and the players decided to continue their boycott." Lokomotiv Plovdiv Board Member Velin Terziev said, "I cannot tell you what will be the outcome. The players have not been paid in the past two months. Currently, we just do not have any money. Last year, there were periods in which players were not receiving money for six months, but then nobody boycotts. The players have the right to want what they have earned" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 3/26).
