A "bitter dispute" between the Danish FA (DBU) and the Players' Association "has cast doubt on the make-up of the country's national team squads, as talks about a new collective bargaining agreement for internationals again broke down on Sunday." The DBU said instead of accepting the pay cut sought by the Danish FA, the players had asked for "significantly more money." With the previous agreement having run out in January and no new deal in sight, the DBU "could choose to lock out current internationals from squads due to be announced next week and pick other players who agree to the new reduced terms on offer" (REUTERS, 3/16). ... A Nairobi court "lifted an injunction barring Kenyan Premier League Limited from running top tier league." Lady Justice Roselyne Aburili ruled that a registered society like Football Kenya Federation has no right to sue or be sued in its own name "unless officials institute legal proceedings on behalf of the association" (GOAL, 3/16). ... Football's worst int'l side Bhutan is "on the verge of a significant pay windfall" if it can reach the second round of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup on Tuesday. Bhutan, ranked 209th and last by FIFA, "will take a 1-0 lead into the second leg" of its tie with Sri Lanka. It had never previously entered a World Cup qualifying campaign since joining FIFA in '00 but did so this year with the world governing body offering a "special additional support" of $300,000 to any member participating in the early stages.
