Event Notes: German Golf Federation To Bid On 2022 Ryder Cup With Berlin Course

The German Golf Federation (DGV) decided to bid on the 2022 Ryder Cup with a course near Berlin. The DGV "will move ahead with either Bad Saarow or Groß Kientz, which are both located close to the capital." Golfclub Gut Kaden in northern Hamburg "was dropped as a potential candidate." The final decision "on which one of the two Berlin area courses will get the nod by the DGV is expected in wo weeks" (TAGESSPIEGEL, 3/10). ... Budapest will host the 2017 Int'l Swimming Federation (FINA) World Championships in place of Guadalajara, Mexico, which "withdrew due to financial problems." Hungarian PM Viktor Orban said the event "will be the largest sports event hosted in the capital" (AP, 3/11). ... Tickets for the second UFC fight to take place in Mexico, which will be held June 13 and headlined by the bout between heavyweights Caín Velásquez and Fabricio Werdum, will go on sale March 20. Prices will range from 375 Mexican pesos ($24) to 7,000 Mexican pesos ($452) (LA AFICION, 3/10). ... The sale of tickets for the Mexico F1 GP scheduled for Nov. 1 began Monday. After "tickets for the most accessible seats sold out rapidly," fans wanting to attend the race expressed discontent. The "high cost" of the remaining available tickets "provoked anger," but Jorge Martín del Campo of Corporate Travel Services, who is managing the ticket sales, "said that there are still opportunities to buy tickets in various sections" (LA AFICION, 3/10).
