Finance Notes: Serie A Clubs Inter Milan, Roma Expecting To Find Out FFP Sactions

Serie A clubs Inter Milan and AS Roma are reportedly "about to find out their Financial Fair Play sanctions," with the former expecting "tougher measures." The two clubs "failed to meet the break-even parameters imposed by FIFA and will learn their disciplinary measures very soon." According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri can expect a financial sanction of €6M ($6.6M)-€7M ($7.8M), as well as a "limitation to the European squad they are allowed to field, which would be reduced from 24 to 21-23 players" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 3/4). ... Serbian football club Red Star Belgrade is "being threatened with automatic relegation to the Serbian second tier" as a result of its "continuing financial woes." Sources close to the club's management said that such a decision "could be taken by the country's football federation which is monitoring the situation at the club." Meanwhile, club representatives said that it is working on paying its financial commitments in a bid to "head off any threat of relegation from Serbia's top tier, Super Liga" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 3/4). ... EPL side Leicester City is confident it has not breached Financial Fair Play rules "despite posting a larger deficit" than the £8M ($12.2M) allowed by the Football League. Leicester's '13-14 accounts, released on Tuesday, showed a £20.8M ($31.8M) loss but the Foxes said that £13M ($19.8M) of it was "allowable." Leicester said the "allowable" expenses included costs "relating to the club's promotion from the Championship and Academy expenditure" (BBC, 3/4).
