EPL Side Crystal Palace Manager Alan Pardew Fears Television Is Influencing FA

EPL side Crystal Palace Manager Alan Pardew claimed that "the FA is being increasingly influenced by television pundits when revisiting incidents," with Mile Jedinak facing a four-match ban having been charged for appearing to elbow West Ham forward Diafra Sakho, according to Alec Shilton of the LONDON TIMES. The incident "was not picked up by Mike Dean," the referee, and Pardew feels that "retrospective action should not be taken against Jedinak." Pardew: "I think I’ve seen worse incidents where nothing has happened so I’ll be surprised if something happens with this. The media, as they are, have highlighted it and we’ll have to see where it goes. The punditry seems to be having a greater effect on the decision process at the FA. That’s a little bit worrying. I hope you’re governed by the FA, not by what people are saying on the TV. We’re damned by TV at times" (LONDON TIMES, 3/3).
