Oberstdorf Bids To Host 2021 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships

Oberstdorf, Germany will bid to host the 2021 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, according to the BR. The German Ski Federation (DSV) confirmed this decision during the current world championships in Falun, Sweden. Oberstdorf "has already lost out four times in bids to host the event." DSV President Franz Steinle: "We are confident that we will welcome the world's best ski jumpers, cross-country skiers and Nordic Combined athletes during a world championship in Oberstdorf in 2021. The positive aspects of the world championships in '05 are still tangible." The DSV's decision means a potential bid to host Alpine World Ski Championships "is off the table for now" (BR, 2/23).
