Argentine cyclist SEBASTIÁN CANCIO died on Sunday night in Buenos Aires of a heart attack. He had been hospitalized since Feb. 8 due to "dehydration and heat stroke suffered during the last stage of the Doble Bragado race" (LOS ANDES, 2/23). ... Melbourne photographer CHRISTOPHER RIMMER, who "ignited a social media storm by posting photos" of former cricketer GLENN MCGRATH "grinning alongside dead African wildlife," said he has received "death threats from hunters around Australia." He has also been deleting a "number of repulsive statements directed towards McGrath and his family, assumed to be from animal rights activists" (THE AGE, 2/23). ... ROGER FEDERER has apologized for "getting caught up in the bitter rivalry between Indian and Pakistani cricket fans" when he was pictured "admiring the blue shirt of the defending World Cup champions in a marketing photoshoot." Federer shares the same sponsor as the Indian team and last weekend posted a picture on his Facebook page of him "admiring a blue playing jersey" with the caption: "Dressing up for a Gentleman's game today. #BleedBlue." Federer: "It was more of a Nike thing to be quite honest" (CANBERRA TIMES, 2/23).
