Honda Motor Co. "named an experienced, yet little known," engineer as its new CEO, who will take over in late-June with the Japanese automaker battling the fallout from a "slew of recalls that have shaken its reputation for quality." TAKAHIRO HACHIGO, 55, joined Honda in '82 and "has worked across research and development, procurement and manufacturing," with spells in the U.S., Britain and China, where he is currently a senior official at the R&D arm (REUTERS, 2/23). ... ALEKSANDER ČEFERIN has been re-elected as president of the FA of Slovenia (NZS) and will serve a second four-year term. The 47-year-old lawyer was the only candidate in the election at the Slovene association's assembly (UEFA). ... ISportconnect Founcer & CEO SREE VARMA has been appointed as the first special adviser to Commonwealth Games England. Varma had more than 15 years of marketing and sales experience ranging from pharmaceutical and retail to the sports industry (iSportconnect).

COACHES/MANAGERS: The Rugby Football Union announced that SIMON MIDDLETON "has been appointed as the new head coach of the England Women’s side." Middleton, the current England Women’s sevens head coach, is succeeding World Cup-winning boss GARY STREET "in taking permanent charge of the 15s and will hold both roles simultaneously in a change from the previous structure." He "is on a fixed-term contract" that will run until the end of '17 (PA, 2/23). ... League One side Coventry City "parted company" with Manager STEVEN PRESSLEY. He "had been in charge since 2013 with the weekend’s 2-2 draw at Sheffied United his 100th game as manager" (PA, 2/23).
