Victorian racing "will continue to be telecast on Sky Racing following the end of transmission of boutique racing television network TVN on March 15," according to Rod Nicholson of the HERALD SUN. A temporary deal "will be orchestrated between Racing Victoria and the Tabcorp-owned Sky Racing to showcase Victorian racing to avert a blackout which would wound all parties." The deal "will continue while the local owners of TVN -- the three metropolitan clubs and Country Racing Victoria -- determine their eventual destination." Racing Victoria "will continue to negotiate a permanent placement with Sky Racing while also looking at other avenues to telecast its racing on another outlet." NSW "signed a 10-year deal for its racing to return to Sky Racing." However, Victoria "is unhappy with much of the detail in the proposal from Sky." Victoria "is keen to include corporate bookmakers, in contrast to NSW, and wants to take control of international rights, which are worth tens of millions of dollars annually, rather than have Sky Racing working as the middleman" (HERALD SUN, 2/18).
