Fox Sports Bulks Up National Rugby League Programming With Host Of New Shows

Fox Sports "unveiled some seismic shifts" in the land of National Rugby League TV, with Matty Johns set to double his air-time, Peter Sterling launching a new program and NRL 360 going three nights-per-week, according to James Hooper of the Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH. The developments "torpedo any possibility of Johns returning to Channel Nine in the near future, with the league legend inking a new five-year deal with Fox Sports over the summer." Johns "has been busily working" on a fresh Thursday night show titled Big Weekend with Matty Johns. The show will comprise Johns, Greg Alexander, Nathan Hindmarsh and Bryan Fletcher and will go to air at 7:30pm. Crucially, "it will appear one hour prior to Channel Nine’s Logie award-wining The Footy Show." In an equally-significant programming change, Peter Sterling will launch a new show every Wednesday at 7:30pm, "with the outspoken duo of Gorden Tallis and Willie Mason to join the Eels legend" (DAILY TELEGRAPH, 2/13).
