Dusseldorf Wants To Host German Hockey League Winter Game Again In 2016

Dusseldorf, Germany revealed "it would like host the German Hockey League's (DEL) Winter Game again next year," according to Olaf Kupfer of WZ NEWSLINE. Dusseldorf Congress Sport & Event Managing Dir Martin Ammermann and DEL side Dusseldorf EG Managing Dir Jochen Rotthaus unanimously said, "We want to do it again in January 2016 and are ready." This year's outdoor game between Dusseldorf EG and Cologne Sharks at the Dusseldorf Arena attracted 51,125 spectators. The game was also a financial success for the DEG. Rotthaus: "I think it will be a nice amount, even if we won't be debt-free because of it for the next 10 years." The game reportedly generated a €300,000 ($342,000) profit for the club. Another city that has announced interest in hosting future Winter Games is Frankfurt (WZ NEWSLINE, 2/9).
