Franchise Notes: Valencian Government Signs Off On Sale Of La Liga Club To Peter Lim

The sale of La Liga side Valencia to Peter Lim by majority shareholder VCF Foundation has been officially authorized by the Valencian Government's Protectorate Of Foundations. Liga MX side Chivas Guadalajara Owner Jorge Vergara said that several years ago "he considered selling the team when a group of investors approached him with an interesting proposal." La Liga side Elche's administrative council is "continuing to look for outside sources of financing to resolve its economic situation." Now it is considering "three possible solutions: obtaining a loan, filing for bankruptcy or selling the shares owned by the Elche Foundation." These possibilities include possibly reaching a deal "with a foreign entity that could take total control of the club." Investment group Kshatriya Sports Pvt. Ltd., which promotes football in India, "has been the latest to consider acquiring the club, but unsuccessfully at the moment" (AS, 2/5). ... Ford is not “officially withdrawing from V8 Supercars until the end of the year, but it is already gone from the name of the flagship Falcon team.” Known as Ford Performance Racing since ‘03, the factory-backed team “has been rebranded as Prodrive Racing as it prepares for life after Ford funding in 2016 and beyond.” The change “signals a significant reduction in Ford Australia's financial support of the Bathurst 1000-winning squad, which will field V8 racing versions of the final FG X Falcon” (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 2/5). … Increased Oil Recovery Ltd. will remain the owners of League Two side Hartlepool United “after calling off the sale of its majority stake” in the club.
