Silverstone's $150 Ticket Offer For British Grand Prix Sells Out In 22 Minutes

Organizers said that Silverstone's special £99 ($150) tickets "sold out in just 22 minutes," according to Kevin Eason of the LONDON TIMES. The venue was "swamped with demand for the cheap-deal tickets for the British Grand Prix in July," forcing organizers to extend their sale deadlines. More than 5,500 general admission tickets for the July 5 raceday "were sold in total, as well as tickets for the new child-friendly admission system; children aged 10 and under can now attend the whole weekend free of charge on a general admission ticket and children aged 11 to 15 can attend race day" for £49 ($73) (LONDON TIMES, 1/29). The PA's Ian Parkes wrote it "was the first time since 2008 the Northamptonshire venue had sold tickets so cheaply, with the management team installed earlier this month determined to make an instant impact." Silverstone Managing Dir Patrick Allen said, "I am delighted by the fantastic response we've had to this offer and it's great to see tickets selling out so fast. It is my aim to make the British Grand Prix more accessible to fans through better ticket offers which I shall continue to do through 2015 and beyond" (PA, 1/29).
