Franchise Notes: Premiership Rugby Side Leicester Tigers Set Season Ticket Record

Premiership rugby side Leicester Tigers may be "enduring an indifferent season on the pitch but they are prospering off it with a record number of season tickets sold this season." Two weeks after announcing plans for a $12.09M redevelopment of its aging Welford Road ground, the 10-time English champion said it now has more than 15,000 season ticket holders, a club record (REUTERS, 1/21). ... EPL side Newcastle Managing Dir Lee Charnley has insisted the club will "wait until the summer if necessary to get the right replacement" for former Manager Alan Pardew. Charnley and the club's chief scout, Graham Carr, have "spent the past fortnight assessing potential candidates for the vacancy, but there has been a growing feeling on Tyneside that the Magpies could make an interim appointment," with several of the names at the top of their list "currently in employment and unwilling or unable to move" (PA, 1/20).
