Football Notes: Stadium Attendance At 88.2% For Second Matchday Of Liga MX Season

Games on Liga MX's second matchday of the Clausura 2015 season recorded 88.2% attendance. This figure exceeds attendance numbers from recent months. A total of 235,657 fans attended games. The largest crowd was for Sunday's match between Chivas Guadalajara and Pumas, which attracted a crowd of 43,225 to Chivas' Estadio Omnilife (LA AFICION, 1/19). ... Two weeks after Barcelona sacked Dir of Football Andoni Zubizarreta and deputy sports director Carlos Puyol stepped down, the club "has not announced who will occupy those positions." Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu said, "We have no rush to find the new sports director. We cannot sign [players] this summer, so there is no rush to find one. There is no rush, but there will be one" (EL PERIODICO, 1/19). ... The Spanish Football League (LFP) will every Tuesday send a letter denouncing the shouting of chants that incite violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance to the Professional Competition Committee (LFP).
