Football Notes: Liberia FA Chooses To Lift Ban, Resume Play As Ebola Infections Decline

Liberia lifted a ban on football that was imposed in June to "curb the spread of Ebola, paving the way for the resumption of domestic league play." Liberia FA Communications Dir Henry Flomo said that the LFA decided to allow its member clubs to "resume competing because the number of Ebola cases in the country is declining" (BLOOMBERG, 1/8). ... Bulgarian Football Union exec committee member Grisha Ganchev, the owner of Bulgarian side Litex Lovech, is facing court charges, "one of which names him as the leader" of an organized crime syndicate. Ganchev is accused of "creating the syndicate for the purpose of tax crimes." Ganchev has "also been accused of issuing a death threat to the head of the National Revenue Agency Krasimir Stefanov" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 1/8).
