League Notes: Minimum Ban For Doping Increased From Two Years To Four

Drug cheats in sport "face a minimum four-year ban under new rules" which came into effect on Thursday. Changes to the World Anti-Doping Code, which unifies anti-doping rules for global sports, "have increased the suspension for doping from two years." Other changes "will see less leniency given for missed tests but possible reduced bans for helping investigators" (BBC, 1/1). ... Cambodia will begin the New Year with an initiative "to give greater visibility to women and sport issues." The country will host "a four-day women and sport seminar for Asia at Siem Reap’s Sokhalay Angkor Resort and Spa" from Thursday to Sunday. The seminar will feature discussions and training sessions touching on wide-ranging issues "including leadership qualities, communication and networking skills, coaching and mentoring and strategic proactive steps to ensure equitable representation of women in Southeast Asia" (PHNOM PENH POST, 1/1).
