Roger Federer's 2014 Earnings Of $56M Highest Among Tennis Players

Roger Federer won more matches than "anyone in men's tennis last year," and his $A69M ($56M)-a-year business machine "tops everyone as well," according to Paul Malone of the BRISBANE Courier-Mail. Federer is coming to "the end of his second year" with his own management group, Team8. Forbes ranked Federer as the "highest-earning tennis player" in the 12 months to June '14 with A$69M, "mostly in endorsements, exhibitions and appearance fees." Rafael Nadal ranked second with earnings of A$54.5M, with Novak Djokovic next at A$40.4M and Maria Sharapova fourth with A$27.4M. When Nadal "pulled out through injury" from the Int'l Premier Tennis League exhibition series in Asia "shortly before its maiden season this month, Federer's leverage was such he accepted" a reported A$5.7M offer to play two nights for the Indian team (COURIER-MAIL, 1/1).
