Premier League Side West Ham Announces Record 'Pre-Tax Profit' Of More Than $15.6M

EPL side West Ham has “recorded pre-tax profits of over £10M” ($15.6M) and co-Owner David Sullivan has said he is “satisfied with the achievements” the club has made, according to the PA. The club has also unveiled plans for its new Olympic Stadium home and “agreed the sale of Upton Park.” In a statement issued on its website West Ham announced its “latest figures, with many showing an upturn in fortunes with Sullivan announcing over the weekend he is hoping” he and co-Owner David Gold can sell a 20% stake in the club. The statement read, “This is a significant improvement on last year’s loss before tax of £3.5M. As the team overcame a difficult start to the season to finish 13th in the Barclays Premier League, the club increased revenues to an all-time high. Turnover was up to £114.8M compared to £89.8M the previous year, helped by the new broadcast deal and an increase in most other income sources” (PA, 12/29). In London, Adrian Durham opined a “bold prediction” is that West Ham will be “the top team of the next decade." In England, "and across Europe.” The opportunity is there. Everything is in place for West Ham to be “gigantic.” Its fan base is huge, the new stadium is “world class,” and it is now an “established Premier League club” (DAILY MAIL, 12/30).
