Marussia Nose Section Sells For $23,500 At Auction; Ferrari Shake-Up Continues

A nose section of racing driver Max Chilton's Marussia F1 car "has sold at auction" for £15,000 ($23,500), according to the BBC. It is "one of thousands of items that belonged to the collapsed F1 team that are going under the hammer in a series of online sales." Other items to sell so far include a '10 steering wheel, which fetched £2,200 ($3,500) and a Timo Glock driver's suit and boots on a display mannequin, which raised £700 ($1,100). Other items include boxes of merchandise, including hundreds of baseball caps, sections of car bodywork and wheels (BBC, 12/16).

FERRARI SHAKE-UP: The BBC's Andrew Benson reported Ferrari will "part company with another senior figure" after revealing tire chief Hirohide Hamashima will "leave at the end of the year." It is the latest development "in a quite remarkable series of events this season, and comes less than a day after the departure of two other managers." Hamashima is the former technical director of F1's former tire supplier Bridgestone, which left the sport at the end of '10 (BBC, 12/17).

UNDER WATER: REUTERS' Toby Davis reported police said that silverware stolen from the Red Bull F1 factory in Milton Keynes "has been found in a lake." Around 20 trophies "have been retrieved of the 60 taken when thieves raided the factory 10 days ago, using a vehicle to drive through the front entrance" (REUTERS, 12/16).
