Sky Deutschland Draws High Ratings With Bundesliga Broadcasts Over The Weekend

German pay-TV channel Sky Deutschland "attracted an average of 1 million viewers for its broadcast of Saturday's Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The game, which Bayern won 1-0, obtained a market share of 5.9% in the target demographic 14-49. Prior to the game, Sky recorded a market share of 10.9% in the target demo for its simulcast of Saturday's Bundesliga games. The coverage had an average viewership of 1.15 million viewers. Sunday's game between Hamburg and Mainz attracted 540,000 viewers, while the later game between Frankfurt and Bremen recorded an average of 640,000 viewers. In addition, Sky's broadcast of the Handball Champions League game between Rhein-Neckar Löwen and Veszprém on Saturday was watched by 40,000 viewers and had a 0.2% share in the target demographic.

WINTER SPORTS: German public broadcaster ARD recorded an average of 2.59 million viewers for its broadcast of the men's 12.5km pursuit race. The biathlon race had a market share of 21.9% starting at 11am on Saturday. The women's race attracted 3.49 million viewers and obtained a 22.7% market share in the early afternoon hours. Alpine skiing was watched by an average of 1.28 million viewers starting at 10am. The Super-G race, which aired around noon, attracted 2.03 million viewers and had a 16% share. In the afternoon, ARD obtained a 14.8% market share for its ski jumping coverage. The event, which started at 2:10pm, had a viewership of 2.35 million (DWDL, 12/8).
