League Notes: No Decision Review System For Australia Test Series

With India continuing its criticism of the Decision Review System in its current form, the technology "will not be used in the four-Test series against Australia," starting in Adelaide on Dec. 9. It "has come as no great shock to Cricket Australia, given how much its Indian counterpart mistrusts the technology behind DRS." Cricketer Virat Kohli confirmed that "it will be the case for the foreseeable future." Kohli said, "Unless it's 100 percent accurate I don't think ... (India) will change take on it" (PTI, 12/8). ... Kenya's Olympic 800m Gold Medalist David Rudisha "has supported" British Olympic Association Chair Sebastian Coe's bid for the Int'l Association of Athletics Federations presidency. In his tweet message, Rudisha, who has started training for the '15 season, said that he supported the former Olympic 800M Silver Medalist "to rule the track and field world governing body." Rudisha tweeted, "A manifesto with vision and ambition. I fully support @sebcoe in his campaign to become @iaaforg President" (XINHUA, 12/6). ... A "damning report" into athletics -- and the "scandal-plagued" Commonwealth Games performance -- has recommended Athletics Australia "should appoint an Ombudsman to deal with athletes and their many grievances." The report said that "an Ombudsman was needed to rebuild trust with athletes." It also found Athletics Australia "was right to send head coach Eric Hollingsworth home from Glasgow for his role in the Commonwealth Games campaign dissolving into a shambles" (THE AGE, 12/8).
