Red Bull Formula One Team's Factory Robbed, More Than 60 Trophies Stolen

More than 60 trophies have been stolen from the Red Bull Formula One team in a “late night burglary at their Milton Keynes factory,” according to Daniel Johnson of the London TELEGRAPH. Thames Valley Police said a group of six men used a “silver 4x4 and a black Mercedes estate to ram through the front reception before ransacking the team’s sizeable trophy cabinet.” Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner said that they were “devastated” by the break-in, but also “perplexed” given many of the trophies are replicas and therefore are of “little material value other than their sentimental worth” to the team. The fact just trophies were taken rather than any designs or car parts confirms it was the act of “simple criminals” rather than any kind of corporate espionage. This kind of robbery is “unprecedented in F1 history and has prompted Red Bull to reconsider their current openness” in allowing members of the public into their headquarters. Other teams are also likely to review their security arrangements (TELEGRAPH, 12/6).
