Financial Services Firm Cantor Fitzgerald Starts Team To Work On Football Deals

Financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald LP has started a team to work on football finance deals, "including acquisitions of Premier League clubs and player transfer financing," according to Alex Duff of BLOOMBERG. Former Everton Commercial Dir James Powell "was seconded" from Leeds, England-based law firm Walker Morris in September to "lead the six-strong group in London." Powell said that the U.S. brokerage is aiming to "arrange equity or debt financing for deals" of $31.4M-$156.8M. Cantor will "tap the knowledge of staff who worked for Seymour Pierce, which it acquired parts of in February 2013." Seymour Pierce brokered Roman Abramovich's '03 takeover of Chelsea and "also worked on the sale of Premier League teams Newcastle United and Everton" (BLOOMBERG, 12/3).
