Event Notes: Ghana To Hold First Paralympics Sports Festival From Dec. 11-13

Ghana will hold its "first-ever national Paralympic sports festival in Accra" from Dec. 11-13 as part of efforts to "promote the sports in the country." Ghana Paralympic Committee General Secretary Ignatius Elletey said that the festival is aimed at "providing an opportunity for sportsmen and women to exhibit their talents while unearthing talents for the various national teams" in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games (XINHUA, 12/2). ... The Red Bull Youth America's Cup will take place in Bermuda before the 35th America's Cup. Two-time Olympic Gold Medalists Roman Hagara and Hans-Peter Steinacher will return as the sports directors, identifying talent, coaching and assisting the teams and making selections for the final regatta, which will take place in '17 (Red Bull). ... The German Touring Car Championship (DTM) will go back to a two races per weekend format in the '15 season. While the "exact details of the format are yet to be revealed, the series has confirmed" that there will be one race on Saturday and one on Sunday. It will be the first time since '02 that the DTM will use a two-race format (AUTOSPORT, 12/3). ... The Int’l Ski Federation (FIS) has decided to postpone two Ski Cross World Cup competitions scheduled for Dec. 12-13 in Val Thorens, France "due to snow conditions." The stages will be moved to January, with the "two dates to be subsequently determined" (L’EQUIPE, 12/3).
