Event Notes: London Wasps Sell More Than 17,000 Tickets For First Ricoh Arena Game

Premiership Rugby side London Wasps announced it has passed the 17,000 ticket mark for the club's first game at the Ricoh Arena, more than double its record crowd so far this season (London Wasps). ... Int'l Premier Tennis League Managing Dir Mahesh Bhupathi "declared its launch in the Philippines a success on Sunday, ushering in a fast-paced, television-friendly version of one of the world's most popular sports." Bhupathi said that critics "who have dismissed the four-city tournament as a meaningless event had been proven wrong by huge crowds turning up to cheer some of the sport's biggest names since its debut on Friday." Bhupathi: "With the kind of high we started off in Manila we can safely say that we're off to a good start" (AFP, 12/1).
